£475.00

An extremely good quality early 20th century oriental freestanding maple chest profusely and deeply carved. This Beautiful Carved Chest is made from Camphor Wood,  it is a hard wood which lends itself very well to carving. The main reason for using camphor wood is its fragrance, it smells a bit like Eucalyptus and this most attractive of smells repels moths hence its common use in the best quality Blanket Boxes The chest is a classic shape with carvings of Ships/City and Dragons scenes, carved on both the top and the front, the handles are inset carved, the chest stands on stepped bracket feet.

Pleasing colour and patina, ready to go straight into the home.
