Beautiful mahogany display cabinet in the Georgian Revival / Chippendale Revival taste, dating from the mid-20th century. An elegant and decorative piece, combining traditional craftsmanship with refined proportions and attractive detailing throughout.
The cabinet stands on classic carved cabriole legs terminating in carved claw-and-ball feet, giving the piece a very graceful and timeless appearance. The upper section features astragal glazed doors with striking geometric glazing bars, adding both elegance and visual interest. Above, the moulded cornice is enhanced by an attractive pierced decorative gallery with repeating Gothic-inspired detailing, adding elegance and architectural character to the piece.
Constructed in richly figured mahogany, the cabinet displays lovely warm tones and a deep character throughout. Inside are two adjustable glass shelves, ideal for displaying glassware, ceramics, collectibles, or decorative objects.
The interior is lined in a beautifully textured olive green velvet-style fabric, creating a luxurious contrast against the mahogany. The colour works exceptionally well with the warm timber tones and gives the cabinet a refined, atmospheric appearance when displaying items inside.
The cabinet has recently been carefully cleaned, lightly re-polished, and waxed, and remains in very good vintage condition overall, with only minor age-related signs of use consistent with age and careful ownership.
